Preconditions and supported SAP Releases
The Snow Optimizer is an SAP add-on which is available to run on any ABAP NetwWeaver system from basis release 7.40 SP32 onwards. The software is to be installed on a central so-called Master System in your organization.
If you upgrade from a Snow Optimizer release lower than 4.2.0 or installing Snow Optimizer for the first time, ensure that the basis release on the installation system meets the minimum requirement specified above.
The user interface is based on the SAP GUI. Please use an up-to-date version of the SAP GUI which is compatible to the release of your SAP system. The current version of Snow Optimizer also fully supports the Web GUI. Dependent on the SAP basis version of the master system, there can be limitations in the screen layout with the Web GUI.
The connection to the analyzed SAP ABAP systems (which will be called satellite systems in the remainder of the document) is realized via RFC connections. In the current release of the Snow Optimizer there is no need to install components on the satellite systems. Only (communications) users with appropriate authorizations are needed on the satellite systems. Sample roles which already contain all needed authorizations are provided with the software. For the satellite systems the SAP releases 4.6c SP37 up to SAP basis release 7 are supported. This includes S/4HANA systems.
If at least one of the connected ABAP NetWeaver satellite systems is a Unicode system, also the Master System needs to be Unicode.
